Wheels of ragas is one of those projects which is really special for me. When Sanjay came to me and proposed me the project and the vision, I was really happy that Arrivan Isai and R Sanjay are taking the Indian Classical genre as a subject and is doing experiment & making something unique out of it.
I am glad to be playing on the first song of the album - Raga Bhatiyar. This raga brings out a fresh emotion before the sun rises and the light just starts to spread slowly in the sky and at that moment one Fisherman is going into the sea to get his first catch-of-the day.
While I was framing the picture with my instrument (Sitar), I felt like I am traveling through the music and was there to see the Dawn and the spreading light in the sky.
I participated in the creation of the album, which combines traditional Indian music in the form of raga and modern, electronic music. It was a very interesting experiment, I enjoyed the process of synthesis of styles, where the past meets the future and creates the present, that appeals to today's person. Thanks to Sanjay for inviting me for this wonderful project.
Wheels of Raga is an album I’m super proud to be a part of! I absolutely loved working with Sanjay on this, it’s always a pleasure to work with him. I was very intrigued by the idea when I heard it initially, and I’m so happy with the way it has turned out. I really hope everyone enjoys it as much as I loved working on it :)
It was an absolute delight to work with R Sanjay Ji and his team. It was our first project together and the entire thing was executed online. but still the final result has been so satisfying. Everything from the beginning till the end went really smooth, and I surely look forward to doing more work with him in the future. I am thrilled and so excited for the project. It has been an wonderful experience all together to work for the first time in an instrumental album . I am honoured to share the space with all the talented fellow artists who has worked beautifully on this track. I would like to thank my friend R. Sanjay for giving me the opportunity to sing for him and contribute my part to make this project sound beautiful and intense. It was totally a new experience for me to sing a Carnatic in Jazz Composition.. It added a new flavour to the song..
Working with Sanjay sir is amazing, he is one of the wonderful composers in the industry and sweetest person too.. and I enjoyed the virtual recording session and I am so happy to collaborate with amazing artists in this song ✨ This song will definitely make a mark in people's heart ❤️
